Well we managed to get to the end of Age 2 and need to craft a coal engine.

We also got everything needed to craft. We upgraded the Starlight Crafting table to the Celestial Altar, but now we dont have enough starlight, in the Astral Tome we find hundred of diffrent items and we can really find out what exactly to do now to upgrade the starlight power. It meams like we need to study astral sorcery :D please help us. For starters placing the altar at Y and making sure it's midnight when crafting will help.

Once you progress you can make the fosic resonator which will highlight good starlight areas when held in your hand at night.

Then you'll want to look into making a spectral relay which will harness starlight and direct it towards the closest altar.

These have a max range and diminishing returns so put it fairly close to the altar and don't have too many of them too close to each other. IIRC, they have max a range of 16 blocks so you want it to be less than that.

Start with one and add them at the 4 compass points first 90 degrees from each other. If that's still not enough, add them between the compass points. Probably don't want to get too many more than that. I'll not actually sure, between the fisoc resonator and having it at a high y level I've never needed more than 1, especially early on. Once you can make collector crystals you can link one of them to the altar as well so I wouldn't worry about having more than 1 unless you're really struggling for starlight.

Edit: you meant the range from the altar? They can't be too far away, less than 16 blocks IIRC. I see it's been a couple days You'll see it as an area of dark blue fog at ground level, possibly with shining stars within the fog.

Those indicate an even stronger field. Once you've found a spot, build yourself a tower there up to y and set up shop. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

I built the structure for the tier II Starlight Altar upgrade, did the ritual, the altar upgraded, but it had a red meter in it for the starlight, so I couldn't craft anything. Checked and triple checked the structure around it, everything was proper. When I googled the issue, I saw that many people had the issue, but no one provided answers.

I finally figured it out, but wanted to make a suggestion to prevent this from happening in this mudpack. The issue is that the marble bricks cannot be the Chisel ones, they have to be crafted. But it is so easy to screw up on this, because you chisel ALL other parts of that structure except the black marble blocks without any issue. I had the same problem but found a different solution. I took an existing shrine as location for my astral sorcery project and placed the altar in the middle on top.

Then i changed the structure the way it should be according to the astral tome and the red meter was still showing. For me it didnt matter if i chiseld the bricks or any other block. What did the trick was to look at the blocks beneath the pillars. They were bricks but should be chiseld marble. After changing them it worked. In order to gain even more Starlight you can link the Collector Crystals you found in one of the big Shrines to your Starlight Crafting Altar. Depending on how far away your Altar is, it might not be difficult to get it to reach. Putting a Lens down between your Starlight Crafting Altar and the Collector Crystal will allow you to link the Crystal with the lens by simply right-clicking the Crystal then the Lens with the Linking Tool.

Once it has been linked, a beam of light will come from the Collector Crystal to the lens. Next you can link the lens with the altar by right-clicking the lens, and then the altar.

Sneak-right-clicking the block will unlink the block. When you use imperfect lenses, the further you go away from the Collector Crystal the weak and weaker the beam will be.

The more impure the Lenses the more Starlight you will lose. Index 2. Astral Sorcery 3. PDF Download Credits Changelog Clear History Atom 1.

Size - This will increase the quantity of lenses you make with each crafting. The above example is NOT perfect as the Spectral Relay's are far to close together When you use imperfect lenses, the further you go away from the Collector Crystal the weak and weaker the beam will be.This sub-reddit was originally created for discussion around the FTB launcher.

Frequently Discussed Topics. Astral Sorcery 1. So I've been having problems with the multiblock structure for the Starlight Crafting Altar. I'm certain that I've duplicated it exactly but I must be going wrong somewhere as the bar is red.

I thought maybe I should have built the structure then converted the altar item itself so I made another one with no luck. Thank you! I knew there had to be some dumb mistake in there that I couldn't see. I'd counted the blocks and checked the arrangement but just wasn't seeing that I'd used runed instead of arch. I had similar troubles with mine. There are some images I used on google to help troubleshoot. If I remember right your pillar blocks need to go all the way to the ground.

So three pillars per corner but only two showing above the the rest of the structure. This is purely from observation. I have not personally played with it yet. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our User Agreement and Privacy Policy. All rights reserved.

It is the fourth and last tier of crafting altar and is used throughout the Radiance chapter of the Astral Tome. It can contain more Starlight and adds 4 more slots for crafting. Right-clicking on it will open up its GUI, which will display a slot on the left-hand side for players to put in constellation-attuned Rock Crystals or Celestial Crystals for certain recipes.

Many of the Iridescent Altar's recipes require secondary items to be placed around on Spectral Relays surrounding the Altar. When crafting is in progress a translucent image of the required item will appear on a Relay, at which point the player must right-click on the Relay with the designated item. This can only be performed at night and will directly change the Celestial Altar instead of dropping the output in the world.

This is not possible to accomplish with the current design. Maybe with combining the shaping properties of sooty marble and Resonating Gems, along with the newfound strength of Celestial Crystals, this issue can be solved. Not only does the new design require a somewhat more delicate structure that looks disturbingly similar to the Ancients' shrines, additional items occasionally need to be added during the crafting process. In order to do that, spectral relays must be placed onto the sooty marble of the altar's structure when prompted.

Experience in the design of the Stellar Refraction Table has lead to the thought that focusing Starlight from specific Constellations might be more powerful than just plainly trying to absorb all kinds of Starlight.

The Altar works similarly to its predecessor the Luminous Crafting Tableand can make all recipes that the latter can.

However, it has 4 extra input slots that can be used for more crafting recipes, and gather Starlight much more efficiently, but requires a complete structure to be built around it in order to do so. This will directly change the Luminous Crafting Table instead of dropping the output in the world.

In order to focus enough Starlight to actually make use of the extensions however, a large Starlight collection structure made of various types of marble is required. The Starlight reservoir in the crafting altar is not only greater in size compared to the Luminous Crafting Table, it has special properties that cause it to turn red if the collection structure around the table is incorrect, or incomplete.

From Feed The Beast Wiki. Jump to: navigationsearch. Luminous Crafting Table. The Starlight focusing abilities of the Luminous Crafting Table and addition of a Starlight reservoir make it a significant upgrade to a normal crafting table. However, even that can be improved upon. The table can be engineered into a larger altar with reinforced extensions designed to capture and support increased Starlight flow.

In order to upgrade a Luminous Crafting Table into an altar, it will need to be placed in the center of the marble collection structure with a night view of the sky, with the items arranged in the table. Then the ritual can be started with the Resonating Wand. Resplendent Prism. Categories : Astral Sorcery Crafting. Navigation menu Namespaces Page Discussion.

The Table will gather Starlight when exposed to the sky. This amount increases as it approaches midnight and the higher up it is placed, with the maximum efficiency being when placed at a Y-level above Right-clicking it will open its UI where items can be placed, just like in a Crafting Table.

When a valid recipe is created the output item appears on the right-hand side. However, the crafting output cannot be directly picked up; instead, the Table must be right-clicked with a Resonating Wand when enough Starlight is currently gathered in the Table, consuming the inputs and dropping the output above it after a few seconds. Requires light from a Collector Crystal. The Luminous Crafting Table solves both issues perfectly by being made of the purest marble. It is able to absorb and retain a much larger amount of Starlight than the crafting table.

Also, it does not require a connection to a Collector Crystal to collect Starlight at all, as it has its own receptacle built within. The Luminous Crafting Table is not without its drawbacks, though. First, it needs to be placed somewhere above the ground with an unobstructed view of the sky in order to collect Starlight. Its collection process also seems to be inefficient, even with the clearest of skies. Placing the table higher in the sky allows it to collect more Starlight, with the atmospheric interference of Starlight seeming to disappear entirely at around twice the height of sea level.

It also collects considerably more Starlight during the nighttime. The table's current Starlight reservoir is visible beneath its crafting grid. In order to craft with the Luminous Crafting Table, the table must be right clicked with a Resonating Wand after the items for the recipe are placed in it.

When the item is done crafting, the item will be ejected out of the table. Sign In. From Feed The Beast Wiki. Jump to: navigationsearch. Recipe [ edit ]. Shaped Crafting. Using a regular crafting table to interact with the Starlight emitted by the shrine crystal, which you have named "Collector Crystals" due to how they gather Starlight, seems to be inefficient.

The table is only able to contain a small amount of Starlight from the crystal. Not only that, but the table must be very nearby the crystal or the collected Starlight rapidly bleeds out from it due to wood being inefficient for this purpose. The amount of Starlight collected by the table varies heavily from position to position within the world, ranging from almost no Starlight at all, to filling or even exceeding the reservoir.
